I have been keeping my eyes peeled for about a year now for a 5th century Athens Tetradrachm to represent Pericles in my "Notable Historical Figures" collection. It has been extremely difficult to find one that had acceptable details and I could still afford. I finally found one and it arrived today. Merry Christmas to me. :) AR Athens Tetradrachm, 440 â€" 420 B.C., Athens, 25.8mm, 17.12g, 45°, SNG Cop 32. Obv: Helmeted head of Athena right, wearing earring. Countermark on cheek. Rev: AΘE. Owl standing right, head facing, olive sprig and crescent behind.

I love these Tetradrachms and this one looks nice! Congrats :)
Before reading your description, I thought that was a countermark on the cheek. Is that "as struck" through the owls head?

Very nice coin. Although I try to avoid the ones which have test cut's.
