I was at the bank today and I picked up 2 boxes of pennies, and when I opened them, I noticed almost all of the rolls were uncirculated 2013-D's. 95 out of the 100 rolls have uncirculated lincoln cents on the ends. I opened the 5 circulated rolls but I didn't open anything else, except for 2 of the uncirculated rolls, just to make sure all 50 of the pennies in the rolls were brand new (and they were).

I'm pretty new to coin collecting/numismatics so I don't really know if this worth something, or if it's just all face value.

Right now the remaining 93 uncirculated rolls are sealed back up in the boxes, but I'm curious if they're actually worth something. Any help on the value of this would be great.

Thanks!

At this point, they aren't worth much over face. Maybe 2x or 3x face value. However uncirculated rolls are very good investment. I recently had some 1960's rolls BU rolls for 15x face. I think on ebay you could get 4-5 times face if you sell them individually and 3 times face if sold as large lots.

Do you think my LCS would be interested in buying them? And if so for how much?

Thanks again.

As a dealer, I wouldn't offer much. I can do the same thing as you, and I wouldn't pay much over what it would cost me to travel to the bank and pick up the boxes myself.

Plus, as a dealer, I would have to take some ones' word that all the rolls in question are truly 100% uncirculated, vice just a few Uncs on each end of a roll. Sure they probably are true-to-course that all the others will be the same, but there is a slight chance that some of the rolls may contain circulated/mixed coins.

I don't see much added value to these. You could grab a pair of coin gloves and sift through the rolls to see if there are any varieties /oddities in the rolls, and then, re-roll and take them back to the bank as a last resort. Then you could get a few more boxes and see if the luck changes and get a box of older Copper pennies that are mainly BU. Then you'd have some fun with those !

I just opened my rolls after I had enough of them and sent them to another bank.

ebay would have been your friend with the USPS flat rate shipping boxes.
