On one of the coins I'm looking at, the "time left" reads:

10d 10h 58m for Internet Bidding. Live auction on Jul 12, 2007. Qualify to Bid Live Online

So to clarify a couple of things:

1: To calculate the actual current bid and next bid, multiply the amount by 1.15, correct?

2: Let's say I'm the high internet bidder. The coin still goes to the floor auction on Jully 12th (from what I interpret). How will I know if I'm the high bidder, and how soon will they notify me?

3: What is "live online" bidding all about?

I can't answer 1 and 2, but can 3. Live online bidding is the same as phone bids. Just instead of dialing a phone number you either bid online or join a chat. When you place a bid a rep at the auction site places your bid for you. Only problem with online auctions is you are at a disadvantage in examining the merchandise, etc.

1. Current auction price plus 1.15 will be amount to be paid. Depending on the current value of the coin the next increment can be $1 to $1,000, but not an additional 15%. Increment will be shown on the auction site.

2. HA is very good about posting winning bids on the specific coin's auction site with the final price. They will also send you an email. If you are bidding on a coin in the Palm Beach auction, let me know as I am going to attend.

One problem with on-line bidding I have had is that on an occasion they sell the coin before my bid reaches them. Yes, I am high speed, but they have to post the next bid and you have to respond. I have lost out this way more than once. If I am really interested in the coin, I now have become a phone bidder.

There's a couple 1909-S VDB pennies I'm looking at that are from that auction.
