Lately, I've discovered many of my RCM coin capsules have minor cracks along the edge. All my coins are in their original packaging, and are stored together. It's only the RCM ones that have cracks. Does anyone else have this problem? I have a few coins I'm trying to sell. With these cracks I'm not sure how much more I have to discount off the price. Any suggestions?

I think, do the accurate pictures of the coins and capsules, try avoid mentioning "cracks" - better use "imperfections" and put the coins with "Best offer" option...mention availability "contact for details".
My suggestions from the buyer side...as actually I didn't sell coins. And as buyer - if the capsules have cracks, like you posted - I would expect minimal discount or no discount at all, if the coin is rarely offered for sale.

If you bought the coins from the RCM they will send you a replacement hassle free. If you bought it from canadapost they will have procedures in place to make the request for you. Provided you have the receipt or have proof of purchase from them.

These capsules are probably made in another country.
What I am afraid of is that if I were to ship a coin with such a poor capsule, the capsule may fall apart when the coin arrives at my buyer's destination. The capsule of my 2002 hologram loon I bought from Colonial Acres was not even protecting the coin when I got it. I was however able to screw the two pieces back onto each other with the coin inside.
Interesting discussion. Should I, next time I get such a capsule from a major dealer, ask for a partial refund or something?

Thanks for everyone's replies. .
Silveroid, I'll keep that in mind when I write up my listings.
Chubbycheeks, Some of my coins were purchased from the RCM and CP. Do you know how far back purchases can be to get replacement capsules? Not all of my coins with cracked capsules are recent purchases. My year of the dragon capsule has horrible cracks
Petersun, I've received coins from dealers/resellers that had capsules with cracks like one in my earlier post. Once or twice I've received coins that fell out of their capsule in transit. That's not the worst though. Many of the coins I've purchased have flaws such as scratches or marks. It really makes me wonder how these coins were handled by their previous owners. Yet I've never complained nor opened a case. I always feel bad and I end up being the loser

2 of my 6 Royal Canadian Mint coin capsules are cracked too. I just called and they sent me new ones for free.

I've never complained. In fact, I wouldn't really blame the dealers for the cracks. I've recently started buying from local dealers sch as J&M. That way, I can see the capsules before buying.

I have lots of them like that. They are not cracks, rather imperfections of the plastic during manufacture. Since they are on the side they don't bother me. If it was on the front or back I would get a replacement. If the coin is in the case you would not even see it.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe the RCM will have records dating back to your first purchase. I was able to get a capsule from 2010. I believe if you purchased the item from them they will try to help you as best they can. That's how I found out about the cp program as well. They have a program in place to replace the capsule as well provided you have proof of purchase.

I think the 'screw' capsules that the British Royal Mint supplies are superior to the 'press together' type. There is less stress on the acrylic plastic when they are sealed, and the coins are easier to remove for close examination. There is always the risk that you will accidentally over stress a 'press together' type capsule when opening or closing it yourself. The Royal Australian Mint supplies permanently sealed capsules for their proof coins. OK if you are happy to resign yourself to the fact that the coin is locked in there forever, much like a slabbed coin.

How the RCM knows that the capsule you want to replace is the same capsule they shipped to you 1/2/3 years ago?

I'm not entirely sure I would assume they have the product page on their system and they match up the diameter of the capsule. Some coins never change size or at least in the past they didn't. Silver dollars, the lunar series, the bird series ect. My operator was more then helpful and knew what she was doing. You might be out of luck in the future with the arctic fox coin in that series.
