Knowing that I collect, a convenience store clerk today gave me (sold me) two $20 bills. She noticed enough "strange things" about them, that she felt they might be valuable.

I will certainly appreciate any information that members can provide.

Are they worth anything? Are they worth adding to my very small bank note collection?

Sorry I can't post pictures, but let me describe them.

Both are $20 bills, and while I can't grade paper money, they look to be AU.

Note F00319759A, Series 1950.

Almost no white border at the bottom on the front side, but more even borders on the back side. Has the letter "J" at the top, just under the "S" in United States. Letter is similar size and color of the seriel number. "In God We Trust" is not displayed over the White House on the back side.

Note L41557882C, Series 1977.

Almost no border at top and on the left side, on the front. Pretty much even borders on the back side.

Thanks for any opinions offered.

I would think that the 1950 series note is a silver certificate and has some value above face, as such. Can't wait to see the pics.

It is possible for a note to be printed on center on one side, and off center on the other side, since both sides are printed independently. If the paper got fed into the roller a fraction of a second too early, or too late, then the printing on that side would be off center. Usually off center bills don't command a premium unless there is a portion of the ink from the adjacent bill visible.
