Has anybody else noticed how fake commemorative halves have flooded ebay lately? Mostly from China or California. The auction pictures are mostly real coins but then they have ridiculously low BIN prices.

You're right, Marve - they're the "in thing", it seems. For that one, no pictures of the slab and more than 10 available.

Yeah, it's been awful for months. The scarier thing is that ebay knows it's a problem and doesn't desire to do anything about it.

It would be better if "Buyers" could block listings from Sellers in certain countries, (like China) where this junk is coming from.

You can select US sellers only as a search option. But that doesn't help with the junk that has already been imported.

That is a shame that ebay allows this type of crap now..

But yes, blocking out China would be a great start.

I know this isn't terribly helpful, but when purchasing commemoratives, I only conduct business at reputable coin shows and coin shops where I can examine pieces in-hand. This practice isn't always convenient or timely, but I feel better about the outcomes.

I was on Etsy today for the first time looking at a search result. As a lark, I typed "coin" in the search box. Good grief - what a horror show!
