Such a deal !
For a hundred dollar museum membership you can go see a few thousand similar coins behind the glass almost every day of the year. I hear Harvard has a magnificent collection. Just pretend that you 'own' the place

What's something like this worth Ron?
David Lawrence generally deals in U.S. coins.

The coin is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If you looked at all the fine European auction and such you will see such coins sell for much more than this coin in like condition. Although on the bay you might find one being sold by a reputable dealer in a slab and he will ask what he payed plus his margin. He has and you want it its a recipe to pay too much. Weather you want to pay to much to a reputable dealer you have done business with or plan to do business with again than, its up to you guys to negotiate a mutually acceptable price. You can wait years for the opportunity to own this coin at a lower price whenever one in like condition will present its self and it might be fairly soon or never depending on the coin. It is an early Greek coin fairly common in recent auctions this one is nicer than most and I suspect its worth about half of what he is asking.

More at "what some fool is willing to pay for it" There is little real logic in what we do. We would probably be better off collecting CD's for our IRA accounts (some people do and seem to enjoy doing it) But many of us will pass this world wanting to take our collections with us ! My son will no doubt sell his share to buy video games ...... My daughter thinks they are 'cool'. I may have to make some arrangement.

That one seems a bit higher than the auction prices of nicer examples in 2013

Usually there are one or two of these in every auction... CNG, Roma, Pecunem, Stack's, Heritage, etc. Prices are always high but you can find a better one or better deal in an auction as compared to a fixed price store.
