The coin is not close to unc. Looks to be G4 on a good day.
Is the error you refer to the mark to the left of the first 1 in the date? Sorry, not enough detail in the photo to make a determination.
It's always good to provide pics of both obverse and reverse (heads and tails) if you want complete details.

Value? $1 maybe.

I hope this helps.

Well its hard to say from the photo provided. I zoomed in on it and it looks like some sort of gouge.. One thing I can say for sure though is it is not uncirculated.

I agree. This definitely is not uncirculated ( maybe VG at best). Your error looks like PMD, but it is difficult to tell anything without better pictures of obverse and reverse. This is a very common date IHC and in this condition may be worth a buck or two at most. Sorry.

The coin appears to be quite circulated around Good or Very Good (see http://www.pcgs.com/photograde/ to learn your grading by photos), that site will help you a lot. The error you are concerned about I think is next to the 1 in the date? If so that is damage or PMD as we call it here at CCF, it stands for Post Mint Damage, and could have been caused by a multitude of things but most likely it was struck with something gouging the metal out and leaving a pit in the coin. This kind of damage will cause a coin to be valued a lot less than one without damage, usually 50-70% off price for the grade, due to the damage being quite obvious and on the obverse side.
