Toss 'em in with the rest... LCS owner says he sells them in bulk for 7.5 cents each or something like that to people that make necklaces and souvenirs, we actually have Bison in the state so the locals make stuff to sell to tourists

Edit: spelling

This may seem childish but am I really the only one that has taken an old Indian Head and a 2005 and slammed the buffalo's heads TOGEATHER... I'm convinced they made the new one face the other way just so you could do that.

I just put them in a small bin I guess. Have got like 80-90 dateless nicks now along with other bin for low grade wheats and V nickels.

I spend them, or just give them away. They really aren't very valuable (monetarily) but non-collectors love them. What better way to get others interested in coins?

I spent one in a ticket machine at the Boston 'T' (subway) on my first ever visit to the States in 1991. I'd picked it up in a junk tray many years ago but it had been relegated to my 'spendable foreign money' bag after I got a specimen with a clear date! That's the only time I've ever spent a Buff!

I think the typical price is 25 cents unless it's a 1913 type-I (raised mound). I hoard them shamelessly as I come across them, but they probably wouldn't be worth the effort to sell except in bulk. I have something on the order of 90 at the moment.

From my experience, roughly 0.3-0.5% of nickels in cash logistics boxes are Buffalo nickels, or roughly 1 per box. Of course, there's a good chance that people are "seeding" coinstars with relatively worthless novelties to stir up interest.

I just toss them with the full date ones. I have a small bin full of them now.

I give them to kids at coins shows, etc. Same with worn common date IHCs and LWCs. Draws attention (welcome and not) and hopefully sparks an interest in some of the kids.

I don't do much with them. I have 40 rolls sitting here that I haven't decided what to do with. I go through them on occasion and usually am able to identify a few dates each time I look at them. Fun to have and my Grandkids can spend them.

I must be really unlucky then, because out of the many, many, many boxes I have searched over the years, I have never found a Buffalo nickel. I assembled a complete set of circulated nickels from all dates and mints, but never found anything but Jeffersons.

skyshark124, I recently went through 30 rolls of nickels and found a VF 1936D Buff. I could hardly believe it a first. Additionally I also found 3 1945P nickels. Not too bad for 30 rolls, huh?

Nice! I found quite a few silver War Nickels too over the years, but I don't think I had that kind of string of lucky finds in a 30 roll span.
