How many of you folks run around without a spare tire? Very possibly, some of you don't even know IF there is a spare tire,(wheel, theese days). Okay, the thought is why suffer when you can "have it all"? Go to the yard sales, etc, and find an old computer, that may cost you $20.00, or so. Set it up with your "good" one, and then set up internet connection sharing. Then you can log onto the site you want to check out. For example; I log onto Coppercoins.com, to check the photos, and marker photos there, and on the main unit, do the other things, like reading the mail, or piulling up even another photo from the same site, to compare them, RPM's are one of the things I check most. Going back to a page you were on, is just as easy, and you do have a little more lattitude in your search. Works for me! Dick

Or to make things a little simpler you could just get Firefox and use the Tab functions. If I get my hands on old computers I sup them up so much that they break anyways and somehow find themselves thrown out a 4 story window. ...good times

I am such a Luddite. I can barely handle the one computer I have, and probably only use 10 percent of what it is capable of.

Well Of Course it does But with Firefox's superior performance who would want to use it?

I don't know about that. I like IE better now that 7 has the bugs out and I do a lot of surfing. FF used to be head and shoulders above IE, but they got a little complacent, while IE kept improving. In fact FF is now creating bugs, while IE is getting rid of them.

Yes, but not for the reason you think. I'm jealous because you can pick a browser and be done with it. As a webmaster, I have to use them all and get to know them intimately, even the lousy ones.

Why would you need 2 computers? What's wrong with opening up another browser window?
Bobbie, congrats on 2000 posts.

Better yet, get an iPhone and transfer all the coin pictures to a database and connect it to your want list. When you buy one, hit a checkbox and it will ask how much you paid and when. This info will then be put into a spreadsheet. Of course, you can then search the internet with the phone and keep track of all of those links you were talking about. Then you can call up and say, "I just saw this coin on my phone, do you still have it?"

I have a dual monitor setup on my main computer, but I use a little freeware program called synergy that allows me to use additional computers through those two monitors, regardless of operating systems used. It's kind of like a software version of a KVM, without the hardware limits. http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/(Yes, I know I'm a geek. )

Thank you all, for your replies. IE7, Too many bugs, on XP. Firefox, Never tried it, yet. Ever try to read two pages, at the same time? I use two monitors, (and units to go with them), AND, a scope. The camera is fed into both, the computer, and TV. That way I get a 32" view of the coin, or part of it. MD, (No not machanical doubling, Macular Deterioration), causes me not to pinpoint spots, directly in front. Makes for many headaches when laying out a pattern, or drawing. Peripheral vision, good as any one. I also get a photo of the same area. Now for the second monitor. I pull up a photo of the 1960D-1MM-003, or what ever, and use it, (and the marker photos) that are there to verify, or identify the coin in hand. A picture in a book, or magazine is nice, but only gives that view. The "10,000 words" that should accompany it are missing. The second unit doesn't have to be expensive. After all, all it is going to do is hold a page for you. Topher, I had not heard of that. Yes, the two monitors, but my space is getting rather limited, what with three computers, networked with broadband for internet access, a 32" TV, Satellite RX, and flat-bed scanners, printers, and all that stuff. Then there are the coins! Boxes, tubs, cups, racks, etc, etc. Not to forget, that there has to be a space for the dinner plate! The wifes TV, does not have captioning, and headphones setup, so I use my "little" 32" TV, and low volume, to go with the captions. BTW, I'm a geek, too! I still build my own, and altho one is NOT "home-brew" all the others are. The one exception, is the eMachine my wife got me for fathers day. I prrefer clones, (Generics), but......Ahem. Gotta give the wife a little credit. She did a bit of "horse-trading" with me for that computer: "Get rid of all those extra units, and I'll buy you a brand new one"! So I got rid of 35 units! My old home-brew units work better than the brand new one, but I won't tell her that. I'll look into that link. Thanks, Dick
