I bought a roll of Idaho quarters today. One end had a funny shadow thing going on. It's kind of shaped like another state. It looks like a regular quarter until you hold it at an angle. Notice the detail above the date. Check it out:

I would agree with the 'struck thru grease' except for the fact that there is no effect on the state outline.

it's common for the statehood series. it is grease or something else but I would say grease.
it kind of looks like the U.S. map though put it on ebay some knucklehead will give you big money for it lol.

I went ahead and opened the whole roll. Out of ten bucks worth of quarters, $9.50 had struck-thru grease spots on the front and back (in various places). Should I cash them in for another fresh roll?

It would be more likely to be light oil rather than Grease .
