Is there a safe way to clean wheaties I know were not supposed to ever clean a coin but sometimes ya gotta 40 years of ciggarette tar from ash tray srorage and whatever terrible things.. I've heard acetone and q-tip thoughts suggestions?

There are many post on acetone.

Use acetone. It's organic and harmless to copper coins.

Read up on "Verdi-Care." It may be called "Verdi-gone" now, I'm not really sure.
Be sure to use it sparingly on verdigris. I use a tooth pick.
