Anyone care to bid? I emailed the seller and asked that they voluntarily correct the listing to include the words "reproduction" or "copy" and reported it to ebay.

So you did that good deed, but did it succeed?

The auction has 5 days remaining. ebay usually takes at least three days to do their thing. Hopefully the seller will take more immediate action.

Well isn't that sweet ... the seller put in a disclaimer after my email ... "I don't know the authenticity of this coin..." I told him straight out it was counterfeit and that Carson City didn't start minting them until 1870. Here's hoping ebay follows up and kills the auction.

I just sent him an email to the same effect and stating that now that he knows, selling it as anything but counterfeit or a reproduction would constitute fraud. It eill be interesting to see what happens
