Great eye appeal in my opinion.

I'm gonna go down from XF-40 because of the wear on the "C" on the obverse. VF-30

I'm discounting the C wear as the higher devices are not showing more wear. it would not make sense that just the C would show that much and nothing else. I grade this one EF40. nice!

Tough call because of the very old reverse die; details which ought to be there for the grade might have worn away on the die itself. I think that's the reason for the "C," which I've seen before. This is the second use of the reverse, which was also used for the 1829 O-104.

I can say this with confidence because of the slam-dunk attribution pickup of the first two A's being filled, making this plainly O-106. It'd otherwise be a very difficult attribution because of the tilted images.

Factoring the relatively-fresh obverse, I have this at VF35. I don't_quite_see enough of the clasp to call it XF. Connor, if the oval line inside the clasp is, in fact, all there, call it XF40.

So ...I have some vf's with a few possible xf's...Is this worth sending in to get graded?

SsuperDdave...I am going to take a closer look and see if I can get a better picture of the oval line inside of clasp. Thanks for the history lesson on the wear of the "C". Makes perfect sense.

I'd say no for this one - the possibility remains that the gouges might get it a Details grade, or they might panic and call the surfaces non-original. It's of borderline value to begin with. Still a pretty coin - those gouges don't drag the eye.

Nice XF-40 IMO. I would be a bit concerned with the gouges as well but overall it is a nice coin!
