I like it, eddio. I have one of these "ghost clashes" myself, and another one with only one "eye" -- I call it my "cyclops clash".

These clash marks seem to represent denticles and impressions of the edge of the field. Therefore, these would represent several radically misaligned die clashes. I believe you can find this one and several other Canadian examples on http://www.maddieclashes.com.

Interesting and informative site there at maddieclashes. Looking at MDC-CA1c-01,a coin which exhibits the same clashes as the OP's, the text reads "...the obverse die was perhaps dropped at a tilt,...", since the obverse die for Canadian cents is the anvil die I'm confused as to what is being described, and wondering why there is no visible clash with the collar.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

So the high (field) surface of the hammer die comes into contact with the denticled area (hitting the spaces in between the denticles, actually) of the anvil die... the one way I can see this is if the bottom obverse die was the one on the tilt. Do the dies move around that much? 1963 seems to be a bad (or is that in fact "good") year for this type of clash, and some of those clashes are fairly near the center of the coin. If the anvil die was on the tilt, but the collar die remained in place, then that would explain why there is no collar clash. I just don't know how much of an angle those anvil or hammer dies could actually be on and still fit into the press.
