Picked up this 1723 Woods Hibernia Halfpenny last night at the coin club auction. I have wanted one for some time now.

The rim ding is mildly distracting. I was hoping it was actually a planchet flaw but I suspect it is PMD.

Not exactly sure how these are graded. My guess would be F details?

Very curious about the variety on this, if anyone knows how to look it up?

Lovely coin ...

I say VF or so ... and I suspect the reverse rim ding is original to the coin somehow.

Our experts will be along shortly to offer their views on variety.

Thanks for sharing!

Very nice pick up. There are like 28 varieties of the 11 string reverse....alas, do not have Martins book. I would say F+ - VF.

If you believe it's a planchet flaw, that's all that matters!
