Thanks for the picture comparison.
My guess is that it was scanned, and a die cut from the model stored in memory. Some hand finishing of the die is required, and I think it is in this area that the minor die differences vis a vis genuine, are normally detected.
A blink comparison microscope makes this task dead easy.
We have the low tech pictures to compare side by side for ourselves right here, thanks to DVCollector.
I will leave it to others to have some fun picking the differences.
