Hi. Is anybody familiar with this coin and its value? It looks like it's clipped. Thanks.

I think it's this one F115B/1 5 centimes, Siege of Antwerp 1814, probably minted at Wolschot

http://www.lefranc.net/monnaie,5-ce...ot,115B.html

about €10 in this grade, but may get a slight premium for the planchet error

Yes, that's it. Thanks david. Any idea where I can sell it? Would ebay be the best place?

For some reason, clipped coins are more common from this period.
I see a lot on coins from Sweden from the early 1800s.

Kafka LOL, I only buy a few things off eBay--this is my main collection forum.
I cannot help you with your coin, but I hope you get more comments here.

Heck ya there's people on ebay who'd buy that. I see siege coins like this one go up on ebay pretty often, and you'll probably do just fine with it on there.

This coin was minted during the time that Antwerp (Anvers in French) was under siege of the French. Therefore it is commonly known as "siege money"

Unlike most forms of emergency money or "notgeld", siege money is usually listed in the mainstream coin catalogues. It's also usually popular... and expensive. There are five varieties with the N-for-Napoleon monogram listed for the 5 centimes in Krause; unfortunately, not all are pictured and the descriptions are meaningless without pictures, so I can't be sure which of the five you have. But here's an example.

Thanks Sap. I think I have KM 2.2 V above the ribbon. Some are in silver. Some have the engraver's initials on the wreath. All of this according to the Standard Catalog of World Coins. Price in VG is 20. Not sure if that's euros or dollars. Not even sure mine is VG. But it is clipped which should add some value.
