I recently decided to put together my first dansco album and chose the Susan B Anthony dollar. I was wondering what the best way to buy nice uncirculated coins. I could either buy mint sets or buy rolls or bags on ebay. Do you think mint sets will have nice enough coins or should I buy rolls and cherry pick? Or is there another option that would be cheaper or a way to get better quality?

Searching bags could potentially get you the nicest coins, but would be by far the most expensive. Rolls usually arent to bad for price and a good roll will have some nice ones in it.
Mint sets would be a good way to go if youre doing other albums as well. Some mint sets are duds though so I would probably stay away from ones that dont have pictures of the actual set thats being sold.
Personally I would do mint sets or rolls, spending almost 200 for a bag for each date is a lot of the album. For the 50-80 dollar premium each bag will cost over face you could buy graded ones and crack them out cheaper.

In my opinion, if you are filling the Dansco, you want great coins -- not circulated stuff. I think it will be tough to find outstanding coins by roll searching. I think mint sets is really the way to go. You can find the SBA sets (the three-coin annual sets) on ebay for less than $4 per coin. The SBA set is so short, you can do it right. In my opinion. On the other hand, maybe you want to try to put this together from roll sets for fun and education and putting a set together for almost face value is cool.

Eventually I would like to put other albums together so I guess the most practical idea would be mint sets. Also I bought both type 2s in pcgs holders. I really dont want to take them out of the holder but I really dont want to have open spots in the album. What would you recommend?

I was never keen on the 'push in' type of album, except for fully patinated coins. One side of the coin is more exposed more than the other, and unless you are wearing gloves, there is a great likelihood that you will leave impossible to remove finger prints on the coins thus pushed in.
Is it possible to buy see both sides albums for Susan B Anthonies? It would be a shame to have spoiled coins 10 years down the track, after all the effort in building a nice set of coins with mint lustre.

I know dansco albums have a window on both sides so you can see the reverse. I fill regular push in albums with coins I find in circulation but figured id try a dansco album and spend a little more money and buy thecoins.

I bought the Ike album and added the SBA pages. I split up mint sets for 1979-1981 to fill mu other albums and bou8ght the 1999 coins off of ebay. I got my 1979 wide rim from a tellers tray to complete my set.

I filled all of mine with mint sets. Of course, you will have the other coins in the set, but you may want to do those one day. Stay away from any sets advertised as unopened and only buy sets with the actual coins pictured. Also, these years are notorious for some chemical leaching on the coins from the bad mint packaging. You may need to buy multiple sets to get the coins in the condition you want, but you should find them pretty close to face value.

You may want to see if there are any coin shows in your area. At a coin show you could find each one you want or need. Usually for a decent price. Roll searching may or may not ever get you great or complete coins for an Album.
