.......yes, I know it's their right, but a simple message would resolve the whole thing. People are so quick to open cases rather than simply contacting the seller. Kinda frustrating. A case can always be opened. I certainly wouldn't open a case for anything without first attempting to make contact first. Just my .02.

ebay recently changed the action of some contact methods. Many of them that look like a contact method now automatically open a case.

Yeah and the worst part is that even if you do all right, refund, ship another item, etc the buyer mostly sure will leave negative feedback.

whats even worse is when it is $0.99 with free shipping and you get blasted with negative feedback even AFTER you refund them. (happened to me in 2008)

It's very easy to contact a seller without opening a case. I sell other things besides coins, and when I see "CASE OPENED," my heart skips a beat thinking that the fragile lamp didn't make the trip. Communication person to person is becoming a dying art. Hopefully the buyer won't leave negative feedback. ebay should eliminate the ability to leave feedback for buyers AND sellers after a case is closed.

People just don't want to communicate with each other anymore. They just want to go the "easy" route. It is easier for them to click a few buttons than contact a seller.

Same thing happened to me two days ago. Buyer bought a roll of 2012 pennies for $6.00 on Christmas Eve and opened a case two days ago. He didn't even think of taking out the three stat holidays plus 6 days that fall on the weekend that Canada post does not operate. Less than 10 days to cross two countries and clear customs at their busiest time of year. No message, just went straight to a case. I feel your pain.....

Ever win a good deal on a coin in your own country and it never show up? I have a secured box so either the post office stole it or the guy never sent it. Ironic that the first time I contacted him because it was late. I had my refund in my account within seconds and a snide e-mail regarding his integrity and all I asked is if he had sent it. I wanted the forty dollar coin I won for 28 bucks! How do you handle feedback for that and still stay fair? The best E-bay deal of my life and I got robbed!

Fix its a hard call on how to be fair for that. We all know they likely didnt like the price and canceled it but in fairness can you actually prove that? Usually the answer is no so it really wouldnt be fair to put that in feedback. Id probably say just hold off on feedback. If you see the same coin listed and can prove its the same then it would be fair to call them on it. Until then though since they did refund the money something like "no complaints" or "got a prompt refund" is probably the most fair. Something thats not exactly a ringing endorsement but at the same time isn't bashing them without more evidence of what actually happened.

Thanks for the advice basebal21. I guess I can leave that kind of feedback but to grade it as good instead of neutral is another matter. I have never had an in province auction not show up and usually in short order. If he wanted to sell it for a set price there are reserves so I'm left wondering why they didn't use it? Regardless I've bought some great coins from E-bay and won't let this one bad experience stop me. However I wouldn't return to this sellers store. Lot's of great stores to choose from. ;)

Dont get me wrong I'm not a fan of that either. I always say dont do a 99 cent no reserve auction unless youre willing to sell the item for 99 cents. Other wise youre trying to get the potential benefit about it without the risks or the fees of using a reserve.
With that said neutral feedback is basically the same as negative for a seller. In the interest of being fair I would hold off until you can see a little more like if he lists that coin again. Or just block him so his listings are filtered out and be done with it.

I would leave positive feedback like baseball said with something like prompt refund. A neutral has pretty much the same affect on a seller as a negative. People are to quick to give bad feedback.

Sorry, but the neutral feedback was based on the item not being as described; regardless of the refund.

Would anyone consider not ever receiving the item when considering feedback? Just curious because aside from an item not being as described the worst thing is to never get it. The item was a 2012 5 Dollar Fine Silver Maple Leaf Canada Moose Wildlife Series-1oz and I won it for 28.70 shipping incl. Was it a deal? I'll never know. Thoughts?
