Do you see any silvery color around the mintmark? If so, it is just a cent with split plating. It is caused by the striking pressure breaching the plating as the coin is struck, most commonly seen around the mintmark and other peripheral devices. The early Zincolns were plagued with split plating and zinc zits(plating bubbles), two issues that led to the rapid onset of corrosion in many cents from the 1980s.
