I currently am newer to gold so I need some help here. I bought a 2002 1/10 oz gold eagle and discovered a few issues. my 2008 seems to all add up but this 2002 isn't rite to me.

the thickness is very close and the weight seems okay as well. my scale is a tad heavy and its close to my other eagle however the large difference I notice is this. the detail is perfect asides the fact the edges or side look a bit different in shape not totally identical to the other and the diameter is off. the standard is 16.50mm and the 2002 is at 16.70-16.75mm. Now when I say the sides look different I'm not sure how to describe it. its just not the same as the other one is. the ridges are very crisp and feel new but the edge isn't totally square there looks to be a high and low edge if that makes sense. where my other one is totally flat and square straight across the edge. to be totally accurate the 2002 is a bit thinner by about 0.05mm. so the one in question is about 0.05mm thin and about 0.25mm wider in diameter but the weight is the same I'm both my eagles.

like I said everything besides the diameter is fine I just didn't know if this was an issue or if I'm just being a new collector here and worrying for nothing.

What are the weight comparing to the other one's? Does your scale have 1/100th of a gram calculation? The tolerance between width and height is within limit I think.

I'm no expert on Gold Eagle's, but as far as the thickness of the edge being uneven, this could be just a mint error. I have a silver Eagle that is the same way, where the edge thickness is not completely even

Pictures, weight and Diameter can be used to get a good estimate on whether it's real or not. After that you'd have to get it to a coin dealer or jeweler for further evaluation.

Post pictures, please. Otherwise any advice we can give will be ill-advised.
