Just came across a book published back in 1967 that I'm enjoying reading and thought I'd share it with folks. The title is Facts & Fictions About Coins and it was written by Leon Lindheim.

The book is a collection of short articles about a very wide range of numismatic topics. It is set up in a Q&A format that makes for easy reading and would be perfect for those new to the hobby as well as those who still enjoy learning something new about their hobby. With the range of topics covered, there are bound to be a few new "lessons" for even the advanced numismatist!

A sampling of the questions posed:

How much is a gold talent? When was a die break interpreted as an omen of disaster? Why was Moses Cleaveland pictured on a coin? What is the history of the British Columbia gold coins? What are the Althing coins? What English coins did Wyon engrave?

Checking online used book sellers, I find that the book can be had for about $5.00. It certainly is worth more than that for the interesting tidbits it contains within its covers!

I'll definitely have to get a copy! I write the newsletter for my local club and I have a section where I answer 2 numismatic questions and give a historical type fact. I am always looking for something to put in there.
