I recently purchased my first coin folder and was really looking forward to putting my collection in there and having it a bit more organized and actually seeing the holes disappear and how it looked in the folder and all but it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get my dimes in the folder I just got. I would have to use a hammer to get them in there and even then it might just pop out on one side. I tried scratching and cutting the holes a bit bigger and it's still nearly impossible to get them in. Then on top of that the few I managed to get in there(I practiced with a few low grades I don't care about, had to use ALL my strength in my thumbs I could and directly touch the face of the coins) are extremely hard to get out and I feel like if it was a good coin the process could easily result in me damaging it.
I am extremely disappointed. I had expected a lot better than this of Whitman, did I just get a fluke crap one or something? is their some kind of trick or something I don't know?
I am in the market again now for something to store my coins in. I want something that will allow me to see both front and back and prefer if it's got the dates and everything I need for the set on it although its not a 100% needed thing. what brand do you guys use and what would you recommend me? I'm really leery after this situation and would appreciate some advice from people I can trust. sorry for the long post but thanks for the help guys

Dansco albums are great they let you see both the back and front of the coins, although they are more expensive (around 20$) You could've gotten a bad folder though

I have had the same trouble with some US Quarter Whitman albums, I too was wondering if I received a dud or if they were all like this. My volumes 1,2,3 of Washington quarters dont fit well buy my volume 4 fits perfectly.

justin,
Before giving up take a dime from pocket change and bang it into the hole with
a hammer. Do this slowly so not to enlarge the hole too much.
Popping the dime out will be a challenge. You risk making a hole in the paper in back
Perhaps a piece of old underwear cut into a half inch by a few inches.
Or any similar, strong material. Lay this into the hole before inserting the coin.
Lift the dime out by tugging the material. Worth a try.
