Hello,

Can you help me identifying this siliqua?
Its not mine (yet) and I want to be sure where its minted (allthough its hard to see because the mint marks are almost gone.

Sellers info:
MDPS in ex.(is this right?)

Also the diameter is only 12mm, perhaps half siliqua (normally 14mm which is possible because we cant read the legend anymore)

thanks for helping me out

I can't make out anything from the mint mark to even guess. I think it is a Siligua that has been clipped.

Definitely clipped for its silver. See how the tops (and bottom of the mintmark) of the letters are gone? Thats how you know. It has good remaining detail but make sure you get it at a price that reflects its clipped status.

Here's my non-clipped example of this same type:

Do you call that clipped, take a look at this one, used to be mine

Clipping was a very common "crime" in England at that time.

This is actually a siliqua of the emperor Arcadius, and the mint mark is indeed MDPS. I have an identical coin.

Yeah, id wait for an unclipped one. There was a coin on ebay a while back that consisted of nothing more than the face of the emperor.
