I am very confused. Isn't this just the same coin as you would buy from a bullion dealer, but priced at triple spot?!! Is this the mint's way of relaxing their "No bullion sales to the public" policy?! I find this equally baffling and insulting.

I bet the only distinction from the regular run is the paper certificate that comes with it. I mean honestly why not just hallmark the darn thing to try and make us feel good about spending 80 bucks for an ounce of silver!

Never mind the prices of gold they have, I mean come on, yesterday I calculated the values of their gold coins to see how much they were charging per ounce and it was between $2800 and $3400 an ounce! like seriously that's almost double spot! I mean I understand numismatic premiums but seriously!

Quote: I am very confused. Isn't this just the same coin as you would buy from a bullion dealer, but priced at triple spot?!! No. While the two coins do feature the same design, the new "premium" coin has a different finish. The new release features a "Reverse Proof" finish vs. the standard "bullion finish" with which we are all familiar.

I've managed to pay less than 25 dollars shipping incl for 5$ silver maples in the last few months on E-bay. The most I've ever paid for an 5$ ounce was 28 40 for the moose wildlife series.
I had to justify the great lakes set to myself and stayed far away from anything to do with superman and dinosaurs. My cash reserves are finite and when the mint starts charging 40 bucks for cu-pro nickle in limited sets, what chance do we have to get a realistically priced silver series? Even the O-Canada series was a stretch but I guess it's what the market will bare.

That's just it, the Zodiac reverse proofs are BETTER and CHEAPER. Is this the mints way to exploting semi-educated customers who know what a Maple Leaf is, but have no idea what it's worth? I GUARENTEE you this coin will be selling for spot + $3-$4 in 5 years.

Strange to see, that people compare Numismatic coin (Premium issue) with the bullion coins.
Reverse Proof Privy (Horse, Snake, Dragon...etc) coins for the half price? But they privy-marked, which clearly makes them bullion... No need to say, that together with this people happy to grab CuNi staff (GITD, Silver plated coins, birds...) for $40 - does this sound reasonable?

'Regular' 2014 bullion has the new security features. The Mint's making bullion-replica's that look like counterfeit! I would touch these- lose 50% right off that bat!

I think the people make the difference between bullion and NCLT... The purpose is to pay too much for the same design, same piece as a bullion... Year, the finish is better for the NCLT than the bullion one, but does it justify 80$ when you can have the bullion one for 25-30$? The difference of 50$ for a better finish, clamshell and a COA with a 20 000 mintage is ridiculous... If the price was the same but with a mintage of 5000-7500, well, maybe I'll buy it... This coins do not deserve the price, high mintage, same design as the bullion... It's like going to a car dealer with the exact same two models, one with a better bright finish polish paint, will you be willing to pay almost 3X the prices for the car?
