Missing edge lettering coins is an error coin that is hard to tell by first glance, in this case if it wasn't slabbed with the label it's not an obvious error coin. I have a Calgary Olympic bobsled coin missing edge lettering, you have to explain the error all the time.

With more than a month to go before the auction closes, bidding is over $600.00.

I know the "value" of this coin is the minting error of no edge lettering, but I find it odd that such a recent coin is exhibiting the odd toning/haziness seen in the pictures. It doesn't seem natural for it to occur so quickly. It lessens the coin's appeal to me (but I'm not an error coin collector!).

Here's a link to the lot so folks can continue to track it.

As an error collector, missing edge lettering although an error, it's not a dramatic coin to look at. It always need explanation, if a few more shows up it will be worth 400 to 500 graded, just like the Calgary Olympic coins they list at 750.00 but sell for much less.

Especially when slabbed, missing edge lettering has to be spelled out
