Hello everyone!

New member on the forum, so I apologize if this is posted in the wrong section (please feel free to move if so). I am not a major collector, but I do have a few, including a 1863 penny and various others that found their way into my collection. I recently acquired a Washington Mint half pound liberty coin, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with these. I found a little information about it, but I have no idea as to its collector value (or if its just worth melt). To be frank, I would like to sell it and pick up a few other items, but I am not sure how since I refuse to ever sell on ebay again for various reasons. Any of you recommend any alternate auction sites?

Any information on the coin would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Nice looking, nice novelty. But not worth much more than melt. Do a search, I think there are acouple of other threads about this, kicking around. I seem to remember some of these novelties were sterling or plated. Though the COA says .999 silver

And to the neighborhood

Hello!

Thank you for your reply and the info. I will try and search the forum in a moment and see what I turn up. I just checked, and the number on the certificate matches a number on the rim of the coin, so it should be pure silver. I suppose my best bet is to try and find a company willing to pay melt price since it doesn't seem to be that desirable.

Try taking it to a local coin shop, they should give you at least melt. Then they can mark it up for novelty value.
