Depends how much of a gambler you are. Odds are high that once you open the box and crack open all the rolls you'll net less than $400.

Only worth it IF you find some attached 6s. Every nickel is either one or the other (close or far) and the market for 96s is not a big one. Its up to you but for that price I wouldn't, go get 400 dollars worth of nickels from the banks and your much more likely to find something I'd say. IMO

Put it in his court. Tell him to call you if the other guy don't show. I would have taken the 400$ he was offered. It's a tidy profit for storage on a possibly unrealized find. Best of luck either way you go.

I agree, we have 5 or 6 rolls of 1996s and have yet to find an 'attached' 6.

I wouldn't pay over $200. On a day I was feeling generous $250. You won't get a big return off them unless you are an awesome grader and can pick out MS66&67's for grading.

Thats more generous than me I wouldn't go over than $150. If I was going to spend $400 or more on a box of coins it would be a box of 2012 first day pennies. Nice fresh die's, lots of nice coins that aren't minted anymore.

The 2012 pennies are probably the most hoarded coin ever, I know 3 GTA coin dealers that had 5 skids of pennies and that doesn't include the vast amount Canadian Coin and Currency had.

How can someone sell an entire "BOX" of Pennies and call them rare?

I have 1 roll of these I bought last summer and they are nice. I wouldn't use the words "ultra rare" like he does, but maybe ultra scarce because like John100 says "probably the most hoarded coin ever."
