Hi. This is my first set I photographed. These are medals, not coins per se. They are vermeil. I only took one out of its case, they're not easy to open and I didn't wanna mess any of them up. Also, where would I post to get some kind of estimate of their value?

here they are... (p.s. Anyone know how to get rid of all the URL babble below?)

THANK YOU!!!!

Click on the Edit button to see how I got rid of the url text. All you need to display images are the open and close image tags with the url in between.

The pictures look good, but would be better if they were larger. For grading, it's best if pics are at least 384x384 pixels. This can be achieved by cropping your images as close to the coin as possible and then resizing in your editor to 96 d.p.i. and 684x684 pxl.

lololol. I just replied in your testing area, and then I see that Mom already said the same things I did. My opinion for your photos:

When I take macro shots, I crop right around the coin, and then start by saving it around 600x600 just to see the file size. I go down from there if I have to. Usually 500 will get you real close. Again, try to get rid of all of the extra empty space by cropping. Also keep in mind, whether we like it or not, the cameras don't lie. I have some coins that look fantastic in hand, but when I take a macro, they look 3 points less on a grading scale.

All in all, very nice pics. You can get much closer though, or at least larger is my guess. Superdave is our offiacienado on photos per say, and even he will tell you he's not close to the experts. However, if you look at his gallery, you will see him head and shoulders above some of us for sure.

Some other real quick thoughts, sorry. Try to take pictures straight on with the coin, with your light source as close to directly above the coin as well. Angled photos that you have show off the proof part of the coin, but can leave shadows. Again, I like your photos, so take these suggestions with a grain of salt.

Take a look at the Hearitage Auction site (www.ha.com) in the archive section. You should be able to get an approximate value.

nice looking photos - do you not want to take photos directly head on? Great quality!
