Hey guys I am bidding on a coin that I can not identify, but I know I want. I was looking at monograms on ancientcoinmuseum.com but could not find any that looked like they match. I tried flipping the image upside-down but that didn't help much All I know is that I think I can see a triangular shape around the 10 o'clock area on the obverse (an A?) and VS AV towards the very end of the legend. The only monogram coins that have a legend that would match up are of Libius Severus and I think Basillicus. But no monograms of them are even close! Can anyone identify this one?

I've looked at tons of monograms (this is one of my collecting areas) but never seen anything like this one before and my search hasn't turned up any related. Perhaps a mistruck monogram? The bust looks a bit Byzantine to me.

I am quite fond of monograms too, don't know what that is though. Here is a good page for similar stuff if anyone needs one :-

Take a look at Baduila...

Also, take not of the Eraric monogram (no extant coins), because I spotted one on ebay...but it went for a couple of hundred dollars, and I couldnt justify it for something that could be fake.

I don't think its Baduila. If you flip the reverse, you'll see better a vertical line with a circle at the top. None of Baduila's monograms has that.

Wish I could help but my eyes are so bad I can't even make out anything. Any way you can post a line drawing of it?

Well as it turns out my bid ended up being far short of the mark on this one. The price skyrocketed an additional $40 in the last minute! Oh well.
