Hi..Always wondered why rims look like this..Is it off center strike..?..Both sides of the coin half way around is the same...Any information will be appreciated...Thanks.

I think it may be a partial out-of-collar strike...

It might help identify it better if the whole coin is shown. Is the bottom aligned? How does it look? It also could have been the start of a cap, partial brokerage, heavy strike,...Could you show the bottom also?

No. A railroad rim error actually appears on the edge of the coin and not the rim.

IF this is an error, it is some kind of collar error -- but I don't know for sure. I have a Lincoln Cent with a similar 'error' and I don't know if it happened at the mint or if the coin got repeatedly scored/scraped while stuck in a machine.
