Often when delivery can't be proved, eBay/PayPal will just stiff the seller, who loses the merchandise.
There is nothing in that article to indicate that
ebay or PayPal took the initiative to go after this guy, which is surprising but not new, unfortunately.
Years ago,
ebay had a spot on their web site where they bragged about their Top Ten cases involving fraud on
ebay. A careful reading of all ten reports showed that in NONE of their top ten, their own best shining examples, did
ebay take any preemptive action on their own to go after the scammers. Turns out all they actually did was whatever they were required to do by law enforcement officials who were investigating and prosecuting the cases.
As long as
ebay thinks that getting kicked off
ebay is punishment enough, these scams will continue. The crooks get a taste of the easy money and keep coming back.
