Crunch. There were pieces of that die all over the Mint floor.

Just a question, but is that a Cud at 12 o'clock? Or is it just the rim?

I see the 2 die cracks but I also see the 2 die breaks, one is pretty large. Nice find. I also see the Cud starting to form on the obverse rim. Kris

A rim Cud. Not a Cud. Nothing has broken off the die.

When part of the die cracks on the rim and later falls off. Note the weakness on the opposite side of the coin. They are a nice find when you can find them.

The lower bigger lump looks like it might actually be a lamination or something else possibly. Coop, a piece of the die has to fall out/crumble away or separate to create a die break or crack, when there is a crack the die has at the very least separated the width of the crack to make the void in the die that makes the raised cracks/breaks on the coins. When the die breaks and makes a Cud it has to of fallen out of the die. The is why the low pressure on the opposite sides in most cases. The one in the upper corner of the Memorial Building definitely looks like a die break, as in, part of the die has broken or chipped away. Kris
