Hi..I hope I am not making a fool of myself, but this 1967 penny has Lincoln's bust touching the rim on one side..Is that normal..Thanks.

Minor misalignment of the obverse die.Notice that the last "T" in "TRUST" is also slightly closer to the rim.

Looks like a slightly MAD coin. (Misaligned Die) The hammer die on the machine is adjustable and the Anvil die is stationary. When the hammer die is out of alignment, then the coins are struck slightly/strongly off center. This is one I would probably hang onto. The bust is close to the rim. This is the first time I've seen the bust this close. Unique find.

I had to check to be sure if they were supposed to look like that, but they aren't. When you get larger images of your coin, I would like to add them to my educational files. Also a close up of the bust and rim area. That would help for my files. Thanks.

Congrats, Wert, it's a sweet coin and great error!

On this same note, lately I've kinda had a run on 1968-D bust-on-rim LMC's. Weird, huh? Has anybody else had these show up?
