stud722 Pillar of the Community United States 1088 Posts	Posted 01/29/2014 5:28 pm I have in my possession a coin that a friend would like some help with. On the 2x2 that the coin is being held in, someone has written "Great Britian 1701 VG Shilling" but that does not at all match what I find in Krause. What do you think it is? Any suggestions on if it is real or a counterfeit? Value? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Sorry for the low quality photos. philadelphian Pillar of the Community United States 3253 Posts	Posted 01/30/2014 1:31 pm The legend on the genuine guineas reads M B F ET H REX FD B ET L D S R I A T ET E for "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, Duke of Brunswick and LÃ¼neburg, Arch Treasurer and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire." The gaming token often had altered legends, sometimes including the name and/or location of the manufacturer.
