Not to far out of line. I see them between $5-$8. I also like proof coins.

I tend to check Numismedia's FMV prices for sets and also the individual coins for a given year before picking out proof sets. Proofs are (generally) always pleasing to look at, but also a lot of fun to examine closely under magnification. That penny looks like a winner in my book.

I also bought a proof set from 1989 a few weeks a go.
Normally I don't buy These proof sets, but I had to, because it's my birth year :)

Nice set! When are you cracking it?

Just kidding.

By the way, I did have one just like it.

That cent is in really good shape! Most of the time you will see the coins become toned or air will get to them. My brother has a 1971 proof set that shows this. this one is nice because none of the coins have really started to do that yet.

Everything but the cent has got some haze on it - but the cent is still completely clear.
