My local store sells American silver at 28x face but I try to pick out the best stuff. Here's a Barber dime and a Seated Liberty dime (it's a little bent, though) that were $2.80 each.

(again, it's a little bent, so not a problem-free lowball)

Was this a good deal?

Considering the age I'd say yea, if they were merc's I'd say $2.80 was too much but heck it's still silver

Sorry to hear about the 28x I'm at 22x for my LCS, and I thought that was bad.

I think you did fine. Seated coins always fetch more than melt, even if damaged.
