Hi I have an silver Vespasian coin with lauerate head right and the text IMPCAESVESPASIANAVGPMTRPPPCOSIII . The reverse sight is I think Victory with shield and palmtree with a jewish captive. The text is VICTO RIA AVGVSTI and SC . The coin weighs 16.5 gr and its diameter is 35 mm . I find this coin not in the books or on the internet. I know the emperor is Vespasian etc... but I want for my collection always the year, mint etc... I also does not find this coin in ERIC II book which is strange. Thanks for more information. Hans

That coin just does not look right to me, I'm far from an expert tho. It just looks porous and the font is off. Plus some of the letters are doubled on the reverse

I did a partial legend search at wildwinds on the reverse legend. It came up with the following reference numbers for Vespasian.
Vespasian, RIC 468 Vespasian, RIC 052.14 Vespasian, RIC 467 Vespasian, RIC 468v
If you go to acsearch you can enter the RIC number and see if there are any matches for your coin. There is one coin, it does not appear to be silver, which is worth a lot of money.
I would assume that your coin is "wrong" until you compare it with other known examples. Compare the lettering as CGCoins has some doubtsr.

I look on this site : http://www.forgerynetwork.com/asset...9esDr6uAYJM= but the forgery there looks like mine but it is in another metal and the lettering is in my opinion not the same. My search goes on if its real or not :) Not easy for a beginner. Thanks for the comments

This is a cast copy, you can see how mushy the details are and numerous cast bubbles.

Hans, just out of interest, where are you getting these coins from?

I think 10 years ago when I was on journey in Turkey ( by the Aspendos amphitheater I think) there were people who sold some coins. And those were the 3 coins I posted. I was young and I liked the :) But now I know I must see them as souvenirs. I dont think I give a lot of money for them but I know they also wanted me to buy a golden roman coin but I dont trusted it. I was happy enough with those souvenirs ( and honestly I gave it a thought that they were not real so I 'm not disappointed with the comments).

That makes a lot of sense!
If you want to purchase any coins and you are unsure whether they are genuine or not, you can post pictures on the forum and the guys here will let you know if they think they are ok (before you part with any money).
