Just some more family stuff I have here. I think these are notes? Not the greatest shape but very old at almost 100 years now. Some stuff that my family had tucked away. These are very Sentimental to me. Any one know if these are Rare, or value? Thanks as always!

Hi!

I can't tell if it is the large or small signature variety.

Anyway...
- small signature in VG $110 and in Fine $150
- large signature in VG $55 and in Fine $75

From Charlton 7th edition

TVI: very very nice find... This is a large signature '35 RBOC ... cat # 630-18-04a

Signatures are S.G. Dobson & M.W. Wilson

They're a pretty common note as this was also the same year that the BOC started issuing notes so a lot of chartered notes issued for this year weren't used. The last of the chartered notes were issued in '43.

My opinion on grade is G+ - VG.

With respect to value... I think the sentimental value you have on this note far outweighs what any catalog or collector would say.

Hope that helps you... and I answered all your questions..

Were these signed by hand? If so, woulnd't the size of signature be arbitrary?

If that was the case, we'd have to replace our General Managers and Presidents every two weeks or so, on account of their hands falling off! No, the signatures are printed, although I think they come during a separate step of the printing process.

the large versus small sig.. is in reference to the way the signature was printed..

the signatures are actually the same size just the way the "large" was printed, looks more like it was done by a thick sharpie versus a fine pen...
