The pictures are not working for me on the mints site but I'd hate to miss out on what could be a great coin. Has anyone had the coin in hand and if so plese share your thoughts. Thank you, Liverpool

Quote: i hate missing out on this as I have the first contemporary art coin but damn, that's $$$ for 2oz of silver. The first one was $90 per ounce w/ mintage of 7500. This one is $85 per ounce w/ mintage of 5000.

There was a listing for this coin on ebay as a presale and the seller wanted $220 plus shipping and someone bought both of his coins. Pretty crazy if you ask me. I got one ordered through the Mint thankfully as I love the design and low mintage.

I do not remember, that somewhere was mentioned, that the previous 1oz coin is the "first coin in series" and current 2oz'er - is the second in the same series. I may mistake, and now will check the descriptions, just rushed to post this And as I see it, although both coins are similar in their design approach, but they have totally different theme. The first one has mainly the scenes from the "ancient hunting", while the second "Canada through the eyes of the artist". If the "Traditions of Hunting" series will include only 4 coins, I will buy the 1oz to fit to the theme and to fill 5-coin box. And the 2oz coin not as beautiful, as unique and interesting in my eyes, so I ordered it without a doubt, thanks to the low mintage too. AddedFrom the RCM site about the first coin:The coin design represents the alliance between nature and humanity and is a reminder of cycles and time: what is contemporary now will be ancient somedayFrom the RCM website about 2oz coin:This astonishing circular design includes more than 50 distinct images symbolizing elements of Canada both broadly iconic and personal to the artist himselfAnd the second one is "Awaiting stock" as expected. Available at CC&C, CA (free shipping - nice!), Gatewest, Coin Shoppe (that one gains power - like their service)Well, I hope for the people, that when the hype will be over it will be available on the secondary market with only small premium.

I was debating this one with the Perth Zeus ( http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalog...f-coin.aspx) coin. Obviously the theme is different but both are 2oz and the same price. The Zeus coin mintage is 1500 where as this one is 5000. I ended up ordered the Zeus coin.

I read carefully conversation about the Zeus coin. yes, it interesting to compare two first 2oz coins from the Perth and Ottawa. Well, personally didn't like the "Zeus", I prefer the "ancient Greek" stylization of him. Very low mintage - yes, it nice, but we know that all Perth Mint coins come with relatively low mintage. Another observation will be more sad for the coin - my impression was, that people were (and will be) disappointed, that didn't get this coin for the re-selling purposes (quick buck) and not because they like it.

I know the mint is call this the second in the series but frankly, I don't see it that. The two coins have little in common except the words "contemporary art" in the description. I ordered the second but I can't see myself owning the first. Now if the next one is 3 oz, that would change my opinion.
