I just picked up a 1975 Calgary Canada Dollar for $15(USD). It's in a 2x2 and in good shape, I'm not going to worry about pics right now. I asked if it was 80% silver and he said yes, Krause says 50%, I'm not faulting him on the error, and I know he'll be more than happy to reduce the price or just do a trade in or even a return, I love these guys, they always treat me right. The question is do I get 3 Washington quarters for hole fillers, or pick up the 1958 British Columbia he also had there. The B.C. is in good shape and in a 2x2 plus it's 80%. What would you do . . . . . ? Ask for reduced price and keep it, Trade in for the 1958 B.C. (heck of a year almost 2000 BC ) Trade in for some type of US coins, he didn't have much other foreign. or get my 15 bucks back?

Take the $15 USD and run. It's worth $16.61 CDN today.

Buy as many $ as you can for $15... it doesn't get much better even in Canada, and post-1967 dollars are all NCLT that I would love to buy at melt (or below!).

Did you buy the coin because you like its design or was it simply a bullion-based purchase?
The coin has about $7.25 (USD) worth of silver in it; if it was actually 0.800 fine, its value would be about $11.60.
If you bought it purely based on its bullion content, I guess you can ask for about $4 back. (Unless it would cost you that much in gas to get there and back from the shop!)
In either case, I would keep the coin if you like it.

I'm not doing it mainly for the bullion, there are rounds for that. But paying twice melt makes me cringe. The main reason I bought it was because I always have kind of wanted a large Canadian silver piece, I have some silver dimes and quarters, and a few halves but they are nickel. Thanks Dollarman The 1958 is 80% and in as good a shape as the 1975 so I think I'm going to exchange it tomorrow, I don't live in a huge city so gas is not a major issue. Edit: thanks all, great comments here from everyone ... and truth be told I actually like the British Columbia Totem pole design more, not sure why I picked this one... maybe so I can go back and but more

I'll get some pics of the Morgan's... maybe they are not pretty, just hole fillers (1896-O, 1896-S), I figure if I get them now I can pay a little and trade them for better quality... one of them looks like a 12 year old took a hammer to the edge makes it fit in the book better at least. I'll post Pictures of the B.C. tommorow
