Love this 1859 in a pile of 12 large cents that I got today. All this doubling is one coin... This is just a sampling, and not the worst of the worst (or the best of the best)..except the "R"! Also a die clash beside the "V"..just a little excited with this coin!

The repunched R in GRATIA is a die defining marker for your obverse. It is a Haxby obv 73. http://www.vickycents.com/obv-o73.html

This obverse was paired with two reverses, one of which is the DP9#3. So take a close look at the 9 you might have a hard to find coin. Ed

Very nice find and would grade possibly VF, a very attractive coin.
I still have a pile of 20 1859s to search
Feel free to call me Will.

Thanks, Nybird. I googled it and it looks pretty much the same without getting too much into the details. Got excited for nothing, I guess. Any idea what these may go for?

Here is the link for DP9#3 reverse http://www.vickycents.com/rev-p12a.html

If it is not DP9#3 it is still a nice coin and not real easy to find. Ed

Out of 1000 1859s I have, I have just 3 of your die pair. Probably worth standard value for the grade.

I think it's a PC59-731... Never knew about these obverse until now.

I had no idea that a pile of of 1859's would turn into so much research! LOL

Thank you, I'm working away through the vickycents site to try to get my bearings

I'm thinking a 6, 8 or 11 on Leaf 9. Not sure at all, my leaf looks more worn.

FANTASTIC site you have. A lot of work!!

Sorry for the below standard pics, my microscope stand broke and I have to use my "steady" hand... (shots are through a SAFLIP.
