Any way to get a good pic of the coin in question upclose? I can't really tell by the picture but it just looks like some rim damage and is dirtier than the other. Try the ring test. Drop it on the table and see what it sounds like. Or flick it into the air with your thumb like your flipping a coin. It should ring the whole time its in the air if it is silver.

The only good test is a specific gravity test----that test will measure the silver content of the inside of the coin--Google the volume SG test---- LOts of fun !

Volume SG test----This test is the water displacement test-- Weigh the coin in air ---Example 31 grams weigh the coin under water (Suspend coin by a thread ) Example 28 grams Therefor the weight of water displaced is 3 grams
Specific gravity calculation 31/3 = 10.333 look up table --- solid silver - 10.450 fake coin = 8.500-- steel etc A good web site is EHOW DOT COM---SEARCH FOR " wATER DISPLACENT"

Might be a dud then. If that's the case, from what I can see in the pic, it looks pretty convincing.
