When going back and looking closely at this coin I noticed certain pickups but they just aren't exactly like what I'm seeing on Vamworld. Especially the obverse near the top as in the picture. I can't find anything like that. Your thoughts are appreciated as always. Pictures are LARGE

Obverse, below ER, are clash marks. They're going to be one pickup. The polishing lines at the base of the T should be another. Although those circular die cracks are characteristic in Peace dollars, like all die cracks no two run exactly the same.

No real hits on VAMworld yet, but you can discount anything that refers to reverse "spike" clashes.

It took the entire time I spent composing and typing this post (including clicking the original thread link) for your images to download. That's a bit excessive.

Thanks SD. Sorry about the image size. I can reduce them (and should have).

OK, I went through the VAMs without success. The things to key on are:

1) The obverse die crack

2) The unique direction of the die file lines around the T

3)The complete lack of any evidence of clashing at the eagle's shoulder. This is actually an anomaly in a sense, especially with the well-developed obverse crack indicating the die had some heavy usage.

Note the early-stage second crack through the tiara and what appear to be polishing lines on both sides of the eagle, near the middle. Might be advisable to give the reverse a few tries under the camera from differing angles, to see what can be brought out for polishing lines, especially at the shoulder. This one might belong on VAMworld, if Dr. David Close happens to be in the neighborhood that day.

Thanks SD. I'll take some shots of the reverse to see if it will show us any details. Stay tuned. Probably a little later...

Man, that was almost 50MB of images. You have got to downsize them; there are members here whose computers will lock up trying to render them. I took your largest image, saved it as a .jpg from the Gimp at 80% Quality (my usual procedure for images I intend to post online) and took it from nearly 9MB to less than 1MB with no loss of visual quality and the same pixel size.

Again, my apologies. They're now optimized jpg files.
