Here is a 1934 Peace dollar for your opinion of grade. The coin is not as dark as it appears due to lighting.

What's going on at the obverse surface around BER? Very distracting. Could knock it down a point or 2

Pandalzi, There seem to be some very very light scratches in that area. Almost more of a reflective absence of toning in hand. It is kind of odd that they are in a protected area and not on other parts of the coin. Interesting in any case.

I can say that there has been no attempt to clean this coin. This coin has sat in a paper 2x2 envelope since my grandfather got it in Washington D.C. on February 10, 1937. Just for fun, I posted a picture of the envelope that was the coins home until recently. Now it is in a 2x2 acetate flip.

Too things which are too distracting IMO for a 64:
The fields between the E and R of liberty and the hit in the middle of the reverse.

MS63 for me.
