What you found is a -909 coin. Made way, way back in 909, just prior to the year -910. The - is used to represent AD. If it was a 909 BC, the - would have been after the 909 since BC is before AD.
Or it's a Mint error.
Or the 1 in 1909 fell over since it was so small.
Nice find.

Thank you...I post it before but I didn't have a camera just my iPhone.....I just got this camera today so I am figuring it out and I hope to get a real good picture!....people said that it was damaged but I tried to tell them there is no evidence of damage and a local coin dealer that is like 70 years old and been dealing coins for most of his life said it is an error of some sort...i

Sorry, it's just damage. Something in the past has hit the 1 and shifted the metal over to look like a dash. It could have happened 100 years ago, and time and wear have erased any scrape marks that may have been there when it happened. Sometimes, things like this occur when a coin goes through an automatic rolling machine, and the part that twists and crimps the end of the paper roll damages the coin.

Maybe it was in Vegas and the coin said "Hit Me" on black jack?
