Like this coin apart from the blank faces, other examples I have seen have more detail on faces, What's your views, worn, stuck badly... or the F word?

Interesting coin I believe it's Romanus IV, with associate rulers Michale VII, Constantius and Androncius, also Eudocia SB 1859. What is interesting about the coin is that there looks like more wear on the reverse (cup) than the obverse. This is usually the other way around. It's a bit difficult to say for sure from the pictures if it's real or not. If it were me I'd be a little cautious about buying it.

Can I have 1 more opinion on this one please? it is just about at a price I can afford and will go well with my other byzantine coin from the same period. I value echizento opinion, but I don't think he wrote it off, just cautious
It finishes in a couple of hours, so I'm 50/50 on it at the moment

If the seller guarantees is and is prepared to take it back, then go for it and get it authenticated.

I am not going to take the chance, I have just looked through his feedback, although perfect feedback, it appears he has sold this coin about 5 times, although I think at least one pic is slightly different, he may be producing these? http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayI...backAsSeller

If you scroll back through his sold items on the feedback page, he has had negative feedback for coins not certified by NGC. His perfect rating is from the past 12 months.

Good spot, can you get coins authenticated with CNG then? What would be the recommended place out of CNG or D.sears?
I was going to get mine sent off to David at some point, but if cng do the same, they have a uk depot so would probably be safer and cheaper

On one of the recent threads, someone sent off an email and photo to David Sear and got a very quick reply to say that the coin was fake.
Edit: I think it was you!

Yes that was me.
It was a little bit different, it was a coin that no one recognised but looked genuine, therefor it would have been easier to know if it was genuine (I think).
All the coins that I would like to get verified, are not unusual coins, all of which people here have thought look genuine and all tick the right boxes. But as you know, pictures don't always tell the whole story.
These are all coins I plan to keep and pass down to my little one, I would hate to think a fake slipped through and then one day he sold it without knowing, so this is why I plan to send to David to grade and authenticate.
I found it really good that he was happy to answer me in an email when he could have made some money with his official grading services, as I was willing to buy the coin and get it sent to him and pay for the service. And for this reason, I would not abuse the option by keep sending emails to him.
There is so much wisdom and genuine people here, including yourself, who are not only happy to help, but enjoy helping. It feels an honour to be a part of it, I think if it wasn't for CCF, my hobby may have fizzled out but I am really enjoying it. Although now I think I may be addicted, and I don't think they do classes on kicking your coin addiction :)

CNG and Sears are reputable; in London (England) I would have no hesitation in asking opinions at the British Museum or Spink or Baldwins but there lots of other expert UK dealers in these coins.
It's not impossible to get a group of the same Roman or Byzantine gold coins.
Years ago, my father bought a group of 5 Phocas solidi from a hoard of about 40 - there were 3 obverse dies and 2 reverse dies between them.
