I have a couple of boxes of new coin and I'm trying to decide whether or not to open them. If I do, it will be to look for errors. What errors would I be likely to find? What should I watch for? What are some common errors in each denomination?

Keep in mind that I have never done this before and I don't know all of the terminology yet. So when you say things like cracked die (I still don't know what this is) pictures would be appreciated!

what coins do you have? if you have cents (pennies) look on coppercoins.com for some of the varieties.
anything else you will have to wait for someone that is into that coin.

Right now I have pennies and dimes but I'd like information on all of them because I'm sure I'll be in the same circumstances in the future.

I recommend a wonderful book called 'The Cherrypicker's Guide'. There's different types of coins with pictures of each of the different varieties available.
