So I was in Intro to Pysch this morning, and we had just started out on the subject of memory. The prof told us to take a piece of paper and draw, on the correct sides, from memory, the 8 features he put on the board of the pre 2009 Lincoln Cent.
The features:
the date
the direction Lincolns head is facing
liberty
e pluribus unum
in God we trust
united states of america
one cent
the memorial

Needless to say I got all 8 features correct.
I was the only one out of 15 kids who got all 8 correct.
Nobody got 7, and then it was even through out the last 6. Someone actually got 1.

Afterwards he showed us about 20 different combinations where most people didn't know the difference between the right and wrong combinations.

He asked if I was a coin collector and I told him I was, and then he went on a little tangent about the chain cent and the early colonial coins. It was a cool little distraction.

Anyway my point is how many of you could do that? Take the features I posted and draw them out and then look to see if you're correct. Want to make it harder? Which letters are uppercase and which are lower case?

I could.

And I'm not even American.

The only thing I got slightly wrong, from memory, was I thought "e pluribus unum" was all on one line, and smaller.

I would have failed that one. Maybe would get about half right. But that is what happens with old age. Those famous 3 symptoms of old age are forgetfullness and I can't remember the others.
Rest in Peace

Rachums, what a great post! If I remember you are just a freshmen.
A fantastic idea from the professor and great results for you.
What college are you at and what degree are you seeking?

The only reason I got this was because Lincoln Cents are my thing! Substitute any other coin and I'm sure I'd fail... What a cool test! Great post indeed!
